New skydivers come in all shapes, sizes, ages, and walks of life. Niagara Skydive Centre (NSC) welcomes all and you will be glad you tried. Give us a call or drop in to watch. Questions are always welcomed and cheerfully answered. NSC is a place where you can let your inner-child out and fly like you have always dreamed of doing. We look forward to seeing you soon.
NSC has been introducing first time jumpers to the sport of skydiving for 20 years. We work closely with the Canadian Sport Parachute Association (CSPA) to ensure we are providing the best possible instruction available. All of our instructors have earned CSPA "Instructor" ratings for the program they are teaching, plus a Coach One or Two rating from the Coaching Association of Canada. Expect the BEST when you choose to make your First Skydive with NSC!
NSC offers three kinds of first-time skydiving experiences: (1) Tandem Skydiving, (2) Solo Jumps (Instructor Assisted Deployment), and (2) Progressive Free Fall (PFF).

Your Tandem Skydive starts with 1/2 hour of ground preparation. The instructor wears special equipment built to take 2 people skydiving, and you wear a harness that attaches to the instructor's equipment at 4 points: (2 shoulder connectors & 2 hip connectors). You are very secure! The airplane ride to 10,500 ft or 12,500 ft is 10-20 minutes (depending on airplane used), then you freefall out of the plane for an amazing 35 - 50 seconds before the instructor opens the main parachute. To finish your skydive experience, you help fly the parachute back to the landing area. The Tandem skydive requires a time commitment of 3-4 hours on a weekend.

The Solo First Jump is designed for the person who wants to "take charge" of their skydive. The First Jump Solo course starts with a 5 hour ground school. After the on-ground practice, you will get "geared-up" in our state-of-the-art student equipment and you and your instructor will fly to 3,000 ft. You will climb out of the plane and hang off the strut, watching the instructor for the "Go!". As you let go of the airplane, the instructor initiates your main parachute opening (this is called "Instructor Assisted Deployment" - IAD). It takes about 3 seconds for your parachute to open - talk about adrenaline rush! After opening, the on-ground instructor will talk to you via a one-way radio, giving instruction to help you fly and land your parachute! The First Jump solo course requires an all-day time commitment. Please note: The Solo course requires decision making in a high stress situation.

First Jump Progressive Free Fall (PFF) is for the take-charge, high intensity type of person. This method of experiencing your first skydive starts with the 5-hour First Solo ground school, and an additional hour of intensive training with two highly experienced PFF Instructors. You then put on your own parachute (supplied) and board the aircraft climbing to 10,500 feet or 13,500 feet (depending on the aircraft used). After you reach altitude you will receive a final safety check, your two Instructors will take firm harness grips & on your command, the three of you will exit the aircraft. Be prepared for the ultimate adrenaline rush as you accelerate to terminal velocity! Once at 5,500 feet you will deploy your own parachute and pilot it to the landing area with the assistance of your on-ground instructor, talking to you via a one way radio. The ultimate rush Independence - Altitude - Speed! Please note: First Jump PFF requires the ability to perform tasks and make decisions in an extremely fast moving, high risk environment.
Share the Tandem or PFF once-in-a-life-time experience with your family and friends by reserving your one-on-one camera-person. Your DVD will include a pre-jump interview, some gear-up & in-flight footage, the exit, freefall and parachute opening and landing; edited to DVD with music.
Please note: You must be 18 years of age or older (regardless of parental consent) and under 230 lbs for the First Jump Tandem, Solo and PFF courses.
